The moon hung low over the ancient Indian village. Eleanor and Mark, an Australian couple, had just adopted little Anaya, whose eyes gleamed with an unsettling depth. One night, Eleanor found Anaya standing in the garden, whispering to shadows. The air grew thick; the scent of decay filled her nostrils.
