The moon cast an eerie glow on the ancient well as Lila and Finn crept up the hill. "Fetch water," their mother had said. But whispers of old warned against it after dusk. Finn stumbled, his lantern flickering, revealing claw marks on the well's edge. They peered inside; darkness stared back. Suddenly, a gnarled hand shot out, dragging Finn down into the abyss. Lila screamed, but the well swallowed the sound. Clawing desperately, she felt cold breath on her neck. "Join us," a voice hissed. In the murk, spectral faces of lost children grinned, waiting. The well’s thirst was never quenched.
