Video - Unlocking Reality: The Advaita Vedanta Perspective
What is the nature of reality? Advaita Vedanta, an ancient Indian philosophy, offers a profound answer: "Brahman is the ultimate reality, the unchanging, infinite, immanent, and transcendent principle." Shankara, a prominent proponent, argued that the world we perceive is Maya, an illusion, and our true self, or Atman, is identical to Brahman. This non-dualistic perspective challenges Western dualism, where reality is often split between mind and matter. Critics argue that if everything is one, how do we account for evil and suffering? Yet, proponents suggest that these are misconceptions born from ignorance, or Avidya. By realizing our unity with Brahman, we transcend these illusions. While not all questions are resolved, Advaita Vedanta invites us to look beyond appearances and seek a deeper, unified truth.
