Video - Uncovering the Truth: Ravana's Real Kingdom
Were we wrong about the Ramayana this whole time? In the epic, we learn how Lord Rama and his army went to Lanka and defeated the Rakshasa king Ravana. But where was Ravana's Lanka actually located? The popular belief is that the present-day country of Sri Lanka was the Lanka mentioned in the Ramayana. However, there is a theory that suggests Sri Lanka was not the real Lanka. This theory is based on the fact that Valmiki, the author of the Ramayana, mentioned the distance of Lanka from mainland India to be about 100 yojanas, which is roughly equal to 1,300 kilo meters. This distance indicates that Lord Rama and his army travelled far beyond the present-day Sri Lanka to enter the kingdom of Lanka, placing it in the middle of the Indian Ocean, far beyond the present-day Sri Lanka. This theory adds to the evidence for the existence of the mythical continent of Kumari Kandam. Some scholars now believe that this continent, which once connected India, Australia, and Madagascar, was the actual kingdom of Ravana, while Sri Lanka was just a small part of it. This perspective suggests that ancient texts may contain hidden truths.
