However, a great war had broken out between the people of Israel and the Philistines. In the Philistine army was Goliath, a menacing giant that no one could defeat. With his body protected by armor, he used to shout loudly, challenging the rival soldiers to combat. One day, David passed by and heard his words. Bravely, he grabbed a slingshot and filled his pocket with pebbles, then charged at the giant. Goliath laughed when he saw the size of his opponent, but he was not intimidated. David threw a stone between the giant's eyes, causing him to lose consciousness and fall. From that moment on, he freed Israel from Goliath's threat and became a hero to his people. He was later crowned king.
