Video - The Wise Words of Süleyman Rüşdi Efendi
Some slanders were made to Sultan Mahmud II about Süleyman Rüşdi Efendi. Thereupon, he was invited to Istanbul through Halil Pasha. Süleyman Rüşdi Efendi accepted the Sultan's invitation. He came to Istanbul and lived in Fındıklı. He met with Sultan Mahmud II in Eyyub, around the Rami barracks. Süleyman Rüşdi Efendi acted comfortably as if he were meeting with an ordinary person, not the sultan. When Sultan Mahmud II wanted to explain that he was a sultan and that he should behave differently in front of the sultan by talking about some of his characteristics, Süleyman Rüşdi Efendi said; "My Sultan! They won't ask about the qualities you mentioned in the afterlife. You are a shepherd. You are the shepherd of your subjects. You are responsible for your herd. They will ask you about this. Be careful about this!" He said and left. For this reason, he gained the appreciation and respect of Sultan Mahmud II. Then he returned to Nâzilli. There he continued to explain the orders and prohibitions of Allahu ta'ala until his death.
