Did you know that the ancient Greek lawmaker Solon once had a spicy encounter with the wealthy King Croesus of Lydia? Solon was known for his wisdom and reforms in Athens, but when he visited Croesus, things got interesting. Croesus, proud of his immense wealth, showed off his treasures and asked Solon who he thought the happiest man in the world was. Expecting to be praised, Croesus was shocked when Solon named a humble Athenian called Tellus. Solon explained that true happiness is attained not by wealth, but by living a simple and virtuous life. Fast forward a few years, Croesus found himself defeated and captured by Cyrus the Great. About to be executed, he remembered Solon's words and shouted his name. Curious, Cyrus asked Croesus to explain, and upon hearing Solon's wisdom, spared his life.
