After the Battle of Preveze, his name began to be heard more. He worked under the command of Captain-ı Derya Sinan Pasha and Turgut Reis in the operation that ended with the conquest of Tripoli. In Basra, an Indian Captain was appointed in 1553 to bring an Ottoman navy to Suez. Seydi Ali Reis encountered the 34-piece Portuguese navy off the coast of Southern Arabia. Despite the storm and the fierce enemy attack, he was able to come in front of Demen castle. After the three ships that ran aground here, he went to Ahmedabad, the capital of Güceret, with the remaining six ships. Realizing that he could not pass Suez, Seydi Ali Reis sold the ships and ammunition to the judge of Güceret and sent his money to Istanbul and lived outside the Ottoman country for three years. Later, he came to Istanbul by land via India, Afghanistan, Turkestan, Azerbaijan and Iran. He turned this trip into a work under the name Mir'atu'l-Mamalik.when he returned to Istanbul in 1557, although he was in charge of a ruined navy, he was not considered guilty because of the extraordinary events that happened to him
