Some of these tips included never eating the first snow of the year, always carrying a rabbit's foot for good luck, and never looking a gift horse in the mouth. But perhaps the strangest advice was to always wear a hat made of cabbage leaves to ward off evil spirits. Imagine walking around with a cabbage hat!
