Mehmed Pasha's first duty was the Governorship of Egypt. When she was only 27 years old, she married Gevherhan Sultan and was immediately appointed Governor of Egypt. The Pasha jumped up and shouted in a voice that shook the hall: "These unscrupulous people, these disgraceful people, they do not fear God!... Do you have any morality left? Go away!... I dismissed all of you. Then he called Sergeant Hasan, whom he brought with him." and: "Save these bags of gold as income for the treasury and exile these disgraceful people immediately. They should not visit Egypt again!" After that, the taxes sent from Egypt to Istanbul increased twofold. The Egyptian people breathed a sigh of relief.
