Video - The Divine Healers: Dhanvantari and Thoth
The deeper we look into the abyss of human history, the clearer the connections between various civilizations, which we now see as completely different, become. In ancient India, a mysterious and powerful being named Dhanvantari was worshipped as the god of medicine, Ayurveda, and various other sciences. Notable physicians such as Sushruta, who mastered complex procedures like cataract surgery and plastic surgery centuries ago, have written that they received their knowledge from Dhanvantari, an unknown godlike being who ruled a kingdom in ancient India. What is surprising about Dhanvantari is that he could also take the form of a bird. Shockingly, in ancient Egypt, we find a similar being called Thoth, who was often represented as a bird and was believed to be the god of science, medicine, and magic. In various tablets, Thoth himself claims to have been the king of a distant kingdom. This intriguing parallel raises the question: Were Dhanvantari and Thoth the same entity? The similarities in their roles and representations suggest a possible connection, hinting at a deeper, perhaps shared, source of knowledge and wisdom.
