Video - The Cow-tapult: A Medieval Siege Strategy
Did you know that in the Middle Ages, a cow was launched using a catapult to end a siege? Yep, you heard that right! During the Siege of Carcassonne in 1240, the besieged French defenders were running out of food. So, they decided to play a little trick on their attackers. They catapulted a cow over the walls and into the enemy camp! The bewildered attackers thought the defenders had plenty of food to spare and decided to call off the siege, believing they couldn’t starve them out. The defenders were essentially saying, “We’ve got so much food, we’re just flinging it over the walls!” Talk about a beefy strategy! This “cow-tapult” maneuver is one of the quirkiest military tactics in history. Can you imagine the look on the attackers' faces? What’s the most bizarre strategy you’ve ever heard of?
