Video - The Artist's Sacrifice

An old artist, Behrman, lives in a studio with his friend, Sue. Sue falls ill with pneumonia, and the doctor says she needs to stay warm. But the landlord has turned off the heat, and the studio is freezing. Behrman goes out into the cold to buy medicine but can't afford it. He returns to find Sue's condition worsening. Desperate to save her, he goes outside and paints a leaf on the wall opposite her window. As Sue looks at the leaf, she smiles, thinking it's a sign of spring's arrival. Her spirits lift, and she starts to recover. But the next day, Sue learns that Behrman had painted the leaf in the middle of a snowstorm, sacrificing his own life to save hers. The leaf was his last masterpiece, and the cost was his own life.
