In this episode, we'll be introducing the concept of national values and why they're important. Let's get started!" "So, what are national values? Simply put, they're the principles and beliefs that guide a nation's behavior and decision-making. In other words, they are commonly held ideas about what is good in a society or nation. They shape our identity, influence the exercise of state power, and inspire the spirit of citizenship." "National values are not just abstract concepts; even though intangible they're the glue that holds a society together. They promote unity, stability, and progress. "In the past, Nigeria and Africa as a whole has a rich history and cultural heritage, and Some of these core values include: Unity and faith Peace and security Justice and equality Hard work and self-reliance Respect for tradition and culture" However, these core values have been eroded over time and most of our nations today, are just but a shadow of itself. "So, why are national values important? They: Inspire national pride and identity Guide our behavior and decision-making Promote social cohesion and unity between different ethnic groups Encourage responsible citizenship Shape our future and destiny" So as a country, we have to redefine our national values which will form the base on which our nation can stand.
