But fate intervenes. A lone German plane spots the flotilla, unleashing a storm of Stuka dive bombers. The sky erupts in chaos as Polish gunners desperately fend off waves of attackers. Amidst the inferno, the minelayer Gryf becomes a tragic hero. Her commander falls, her rudder jams, and her precious cargo of mines is lost to the depths. Yet she fights on, a symbol of Polish defiance. As night falls, the battered fleet limps to Hel Peninsula. Operation Rurka lies in ruins, but the spirit of resistance burns bright in the hearts of these naval warriors.
