Video - Night March: The Encounter of Zayd bin Haritha and Banu Fezâres
Zayd bin Haritha's friends were martyred. Zayd bin Haritha was also seriously injured and fell unconscious among the martyrs. He came to the point of death. After a while he woke up. He slowly came to Medina. They informed our Prophet about what happened to them. When Zayd bin Haritha's wounds healed, our Prophet sent him to the Bani Fezâres by making him the head of a military unit. The unit sent was a large cavalry company. As he sent them, he said to them, "Hide during the day and march at night!" he said. Zayd bin Haritha and his friends followed the wrong path for a day as a result of their guide's mistake. Banu Fezâres also received news that the Islamic mujahids had arrived. Because, as a custom, they had appointed a watchman for themselves. Every day, the lookout would go up to the top of a mountain belonging to them, look at the people coming towards them from the road, inform them from a day's distance and say, "Sleep well! There is no danger or harm that could happen to you tonight." Zayd bin Haritha and his friends came across a small group of Banu Fezâres. They surrounded them. They killed Abdullah bin Mesade and Kays bin Numan bin Mesade, two of the leading men of the Banu Fezâres. Qays bin Muhassir, one of the Islamic mujahids, went after Ummu Kirfa and captured her. Umm Kirfe was an old woman. When he was caught, he started cursing our Prophet. Zayd bin Harith ordered Qays bin Muhassir to kill him and he was killed immediately. The property of the Banu Fezâres that could be seized was taken as booty. Zayd bin Haritha sent Umm Kirfa's armor shirt to our Prophet. When the Mujahideen returned to Medina after teaching their lesson to the oppressors, our Prophet was at home. Zayd bin Haritha went and knocked on the Prophet's door. Our Prophet welcomed Zayd, embraced him, kissed him on the forehead, and asked him what they were doing. Zayd also informed our Prophet about the help and victory God had granted.
