Lord Shiva, also known as Mahadev, is a powerful and kind god in Hindu mythology. He lives on Mount Kailash with his wife, Parvati, and their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya. Lord Shiva is often seen meditating peacefully, wearing a tiger skin and holding a trident. His long hair holds the sacred River Ganga, and a crescent moon adorns his head. Lord Shiva loves to dance and is known as Nataraja, the lord of the dance. His dance represents the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction. Lord Shiva has a blue throat because he once drank poison to save the world, earning him the name Neelkanth. Lord Shiva rides a mighty bull named Nandi, who is always by his side. Though Lord Shiva is a destroyer, he is kind and compassionate, helping those who pray to him with devotion.
