Video - Love God, Love Others: The Greatest Commandment
The Greatest Commandment: In Matthew 22:35-40, One of Pharisees, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?' Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.' Since Moses brought us the Ten Commandments, more than 1200 years before Jesus, the Jews had expanded these ten commandments into over 600 rules and laws, making the practice of faith increasingly complicated. Over time, what was simple became complex, filled with details and debates. With these words, Jesus reminds us of something essential yet so simple. Instead of focusing on the basic principles of loving God and our neighbor, like the Pharisees, we often get lost in discussions and rules, citing Moses and complicating the message. Jesus calls us to return to the basics, to love fully and simply. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. Did you enjoy the video?
