The rain hammered down as Emma’s car skidded on the slick road. Her heart raced as she fought for control, knuckles white on the steering wheel. Beside her, Max, her loyal golden retriever, barked nervously. Just ahead, a shadowy figure waved frantically. Emma slammed the brakes, tires screeching. "Help! My baby!" the woman cried, soaked to the bone. Emma jumped out, Max following. They reached the backseat where a wailing infant lay.
