The kitchen echoed with sharp clinks and clangs as Kira’s cat, Noir, knocked utensils to the floor. “Stop it!” she hissed, but Noir’s eyes glowed unnaturally in the dim light. He never acted like this before. The air grew cold, and shadows twisted around the room, whispering. Kira reached for a fallen knife, but her hand was met with icy, skeletal fingers. She gasped, yanking back, her pulse racing. Noir’s yowls turned into guttural growls. The shadows coalesced, forming a ghastly figure with hollow eyes. “Leave,” it whispered.
