The old carousel in the abandoned amusement park creaked to life as dusk settled like a shroud over the town. Little Elara, with her golden curls and innocent giggles, had wandered in alone, enticed by the ghostly music. She climbed onto a horse, its eyes painted an eerie red. As the carousel spun faster, the air grew colder. Elara's laughter morphed into cries of terror. Her reflection in the carousel mirrors twisted, revealing a grotesque, horned visage grinning back at her. "Elara, come home!" her mother’s voice echoed from the periphery, but it was too late. The carousel stopped abruptly, and Elara dismounted, her eyes now a void of darkness. Her golden curls had turned into slithering, black tendrils. In the nearby village, lights flickered and died. Shadowy figures etched with ancient runes appeared in every corner. The air filled with an acrid scent as Elara approached her home. "Mommy, I'm back," she whispered, but her voice was layered with a guttural growl. Her mother turned, eyes widening in horror. Elara's skin cracked and oozed, revealing scales beneath.
