Did you know that two U.S. Presidents were targets of bizarre assassination attempts? In 1835, Andrew Jackson was nearly shot by a deranged house painter named Richard Lawrence. Lawrence's two pistols both misfired, and Jackson, ever the tough guy, beat him senseless with his cane. Fast forward to 1975, Gerald Ford faced not one, but two assassination attempts in the same month! The first was by Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a Charles Manson follower, who aimed a gun at Ford but forgot to chamber a round.
