Video - Child Labor in the 19th Century: A Tough Gig.

Did you know that in the 19th century, child labor was shockingly common? Kids as young as five were sent to work in factories, mines, and even as chimney sweeps. Imagine sending your kindergartener up a soot-filled chimney! These kids worked long hours, often 12 to 16 hours a day, and for what? A few pennies if they were lucky. In fact, some factory owners would dip their little workers' fingers in vinegar to toughen their skin against the harsh machinery. And you thought your job was tough!
