Did you know that in the 19th century, there were actual attempts to teach cats how to perform ballet? Yes, you heard that right! People believed that felines could be trained to dance gracefully on their hind legs. Imagine tuxedo-clad cats leaping across a miniature stage! Trainers used tiny tutus and music boxes to entice the cats into performing pirouettes and arabesques. However, the cats were more interested in chasing after the music boxes than dancing to them.
