Video - Bat Bombs and Exploding Rats: WWII Oddities

Did you know that during World War II, the United States military tested a plan to use bats as weapons? The idea was to attach tiny incendiary bombs to bats and release them over Japanese cities, where they would roost in buildings and start fires. The plan was called "Project X-Ray" but was ultimately abandoned. Another interesting fact is that the British Special Operations Executive developed exploding rat bombs to sabotage German factories. These rats were filled with explosives and placed in boiler rooms and other strategic locations. Imagine the surprise of the enemy when rats started exploding all around them!
