Did you know that ancient India was home to one of the world's first universities? Takshashila University, founded around 700 BCE, taught over 10,000 students from all over the world! Speaking of education, did you hear about the Indian mathematician Aryabhata? He calculated the value of pi to four decimal places and proposed that the Earth rotates on its axis way back in the 5th century. And get this, in the medieval period, Indian surgeons were performing complex surgeries like cataract removal and plastic surgery.
